Art and Conscious of Mind – Lecture 1

I am glad I was able to take part in this field option as I plan to connect the ideas discussed to  my dissertation and my subject, too.

What is conscious? – being aware of everything . Art and mind define what humans are. What bonds them together.

Inside there is a brain and in the brain something happens called conscious when looking at the real world which is formless. Our brain makes it into forms.

We form our ideas through senses only because nervous system happens only.

Our brains are able to re-create imagery or create new images when placed in unknown situations. Like looking at abstract art. When we look at Kandinsky’s paintings our brain creates visual indeterminacy (which was what Kandinsky wanted to achieve).  Therefore our brains sees things that aren’t there depending on coherent memories.

-Visual space full of information and coherent but not being able to clarify. Recognisable and unrecognisible.-

The world we perceive is essentially formless and objectless. It is indeterminate we impose boundaries, separations, on that indeterminate flux and pick out objects and forms that are meaningful to us.

“The world we perceive is essentially formless and
objectless, it is indeterminate
We impose boundaries, separations, on that
indeterminate flux and pick out objects and forms that
are meaningful to us
This does not mean, however, those objects and forms
are there in any permanent or absolute sense,
independently of our perceiving them
The most primordial object we determine from this
perceptual flux is our own being, out sense of self, from
which all other distinctions flow” – Varela
